Hello,
I am in desperate need of help for my 16 yo daughter. I would like to try the FT diet for her severe ibs/sibo symptoms, however, since she currently cannot tolerate any dairy products I am uncertain how to proceed. I have purchase a digestive enzyme supplement for her. Should I wait for several days after she initially begins taking the supplement to begin the diet? Thanks for your help!
Why not just have her eat everything in the FTD except the dairy?
I am also lactose intolerant and find that heavy cream is not a problem. It’s almost all fat (i.e., only trace lactose).
The Fast Tract Diet includes only diary products containing lower levels of lactose. Excluding diary entirely is one option, but using lactase enzyme is another. You don’t need to start lactase supplement before initiating the diet, but it is important to take the supplement right before consuming diary and every time dairy is consumed.
