    Hello to everyone!
I have severe GERD since last summer. Two days ago i made another one esophagogastroduodenoscopy and it showed that since july 2013 surface erosions have developped in my esophagus (0,3х0,6mm) and LES didn’t close. In july there was now erosions and LES closed but not tightly enough and i didn;t use any PPis.

Now my Gastro doc makes me to start PPis and i think i have no choice, since i have erosions now. So i take 20mg of Omeprasol twice daily and Ursodeoxycholic acid for my gallbladder issues.

Does anybody have success with healing erosive esophagitis with fast truct diet? How long time does it take to feel releif?
I tryed this diet for a month (when i didn’t know about erosions and wasn’t on PPi’s) but without much success. Maybe 1 month is not enough?
Can this diet be helpful despite of using PPis? (since i can;’t stop using them until erosions heal).

    Health to all!

Alexandra–Many people start the Fast Tract diet while on PPI’s.You many need to keep your overall carbohydrates very low, 20g or under per day until your symptoms resolve. You can try weaning off the PPI’s slowly as you feel the effects of the diet working. Of course, in your case, I think it’s important to hold off on weaning until your erosions heal. Good luck and good health to you!

One of the enzymes I was just prescribed is Vitamin U, not a vitamin but an enzyme derived from cabbage. Research indicates it heals ulcers, and now helps acid reflux, gastritis & colitis.

Jaeme, thank you! Does vitamin U helps you? What brand do you use?

I am about to start taking melatonin in conjunction with Omeprazole.
Here is a study about melatonin http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-230X/10/7

    Looks rather promising…

I just started the vitamin U, and it is part of a blend of enzymes called Gastrazyme prescribed by my nutritionist. She said it is designed to heal the digestive tract. Will let you know how it works.

Jaeme, how is your experience with Vitamin U going?

I am taking melatonin almost 1,5 months. First i took 3mg daily and few days ago i decided to take 6mg.
I take Now Foods melatonin and it seems that it doesn;t help my healing. At least i don’t feel any difference.
I ordered melatonin in the form of drops and losenges (to dissolve in mouth) also becase i think that melatonin in pills can be not absorbed well enough.

I am going on tryings … By the way two days ago i’ve restarted FP diet finally. I hope that it is not useless while on PPI’s.
